Karen Neu Wideman
“Through my paintings, I love to share my view and love of God’s landscapes with a colourful palette and variety of brushstrokes.”
Raised in Unionville, Ontario, Karen’s passion for art began at a very young age. Mostly self-taught, Karen enjoys learning new concepts to enhance her skills. With a love of Art History, her inspiration comes from a few specific artists such as VanGogh, Luce and The Group of Seven. Karen’s main focus of landscapes and florals is inspired by a love for the natural settings of God’s design. She uses a vibrant palette and doesn’t limit herself to one style or concept to capture these images.
Karen says “I like to capture places I’ve journeyed to or what I see around me, what the scene speaks to me with a spiritual element from my creator. My recent work is done with broken brushstrokes that sometimes have a mosaic affect reflecting on how we live in a broken world, no one is perfect, but all the strokes piece together into a complete picture how God has created each one of us uniquely.” Her work is in private collections in various locations of southern Ontario as well as local businesses for show and sale.
For the past decade, Karen has taught children’s art programs from K to 8 in her Uxbridge home, schools and at local studios. She has also instructed adult beginner acrylic paint classes. Her passion for art extends beyond herself. She loves to teach and inspire creativity in children, as well as learn from them! She has a studio for classes in her home in Port Perry, Ontario.
