Deborah Bateman

Oil Painter

“I consider myself a whimsical colourist – bright, vibrant colours, semi impressionistic style. I strive to capture scenes, people, animals in energetic paintings that bring a smile or pull out a long lost memory to the viewer.”

Deborah has been painting in oils for over 30 years. Having worked closely over the years with artists whose work she admires for their free and colorful style – Poul Thrane, Mary Lampman, Lucy Manley.

Now in retirement with time to pursue this passion, Deborah drives the backroads endlessly looking for inspiration – the smell of new cut hay, the scent of spring, that old farmhouse that’s tilted. Her dream is to have her own studio space at her home farm – and finally move out of the dining room!
