Painter

Painting is how I can express myself and grow in self awareness. I paint intuitively, taking risks and playing. If the process is too controlled the outcome will not be full of emotion, but will be tight and predictable.”

I took a year at Central Tech’s adult art program. I changed from working in watercolour and realism, to acrylic abstract and some mixed media, I learn from teachers who foster a love of play and experimentation. I find they push my limits, and help me keep my work fresh and developing.

I have had work accepted in juried shows with the Canadian Society of Artists, Neilson Park, the John B. Aird Gallery and at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa. I belong to artist groups including the Artists’ Network. I want to develop a regular painting practice and show my work.

I paint because I enjoy the process and as a way to push myself beyond my limits. The more risks I take with my art, the easier it is to take the same risks in my life. I try not to focus on the outcome while I work. I seem to do my best work when I let loose and just play. Yet, I am drawing on internal feelings and thoughts while I paint. Painting provides a creative and emotional outlet. Time is forgotten, while immersed in the creative process.I paint because I enjoy the process and as a way to push myself beyond my limits.
