
Movie Night at the Library
Join us for a screening of the incredible documentary, “Summer of Soul” as a part of small town BIG. The documentary examines the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, which was held at Mount Morris Park in Harlem and lasted for six weeks. The documentary is filled with performances from musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Mahalia Jackson, Nina Simone, The 5th Dimension, The Staple Singers, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Blinky Williams, Sly and the Family Stone and the Chambers Brothers. The film has been nominated for Best Documentary at this year’s Academy Awards and has received over 27 awards at numerous film festivals around the world.
The film will be screened in the Rotary Room, the Library’s world-class screening room. Tickets will be $2 each and can be purchased at the circulation desk of the library in advance, starting on April 21st.
