Update | August 9, 2019

Scugog Arts and the Port Perry Hospital Foundation are collaborating to spread well-being through ceiling tile paintings. With the help and talent of local artists tiles will be painted, and then placed back in the hospital allowing patients to have something calming and colorful to look up at.

Similar initiatives have proven successful and shown the public that there is a healing power associated with art. Specifically scenes depicting open landscapes and nature have been highly beneficial in comforting patients. Before the tiles make their way back to the Port Perry Hospital, they will be on display surrounded by a hub of culture and arts at Culture Days in Scugog. Discover hands-on workshops, engaging demonstrations, an exhibition of ceiling art, and live musical performances along Perry St on Saturday, September 28th  from 11 am to 5 pm.

Update | July 25, 2019

For the second year, Durham Region has been selected as one of three communities across Ontario to build a Culture Trek. This means itineraries will be developed with suggested stops and activities, places to eat, and overnight accommodations. It’s time to get excited!

What is Culture Days?

Culture Days is a nationwide celebration of culture and arts that takes place the last weekend of September every year. Back for its tenth year, the festivities bring together thousands of organizers to host free and participatory public activities, along with millions of Canadians to engage with them. The goal is to build connections and highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.
