AN ART EXHIBITION by Kate Greenway
Scugog Arts presents ‘Wild in Pieces: Collage Creatures of Land, Sea and Sky’ by Kate Greenway, where colour and texture are built up in careful layers to create depth and diversity. Join us at the artist reception on Saturday, April 11th from 1-3pm.
Kate Greenways curated approach to utilizing materials invites viewers into a vibrant world where animals and birds emerge from layers of texture, colour, and imagination. This mixed-media exhibition brings together creatures collaged from recycled magazine paper, birds formed with the fluidity of watercolour and the spontaneity of monoprint, and animals built from hand-painted and collaged tissue paper. Each piece celebrates the beauty and diversity of the natural world while showcasing the possibilities of reimagined materials. Through fragments and layers, Wild in Pieces transforms everyday papers into extraordinary portraits of life on land, sea, and in the sky.
“I love to use disparate, often discarded materials to create texture and dimension.” – Kate Greenway
Kate Greenway is a multi-disciplinary artist, also creating works in glass (fused, stained, and mosaic) and watercolour. Her subject matter focuses on reflecting the natural world, through flora, fauna, and landscapes. All three of her disciplines have found common ground in transparency, light and colour. She builds up exquisite layers to form rich colours using scraps of hand-painted tissue papers and varied tactile and foraged treasures, often as small as individual pieces of thread.
