Scugog Council for the Arts receives Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant

The Scugog Council for the Arts (SCA) is one of is one of 115 organizations in the Durham, Haliburton, Kawartha and Pine Ridge region to receive $6,128,200 in Foundation grants, as announced by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The SCA has been awarded a grant of $47,300 over three years to hire a manager of operations who will enable the organization to improve governance and operations, and increase community partnerships, membership, volunteerism, and community programming.

The SCA is now in its fifth year of existence, with 150 current members, and has already made a significant contribution to the vibrancy of the arts in community through annual events such as Showcase of the Arts, The SCA Literary Contest, the Community in the Arts Awards and juried exhibitions.

“This is very exciting news for the SCA”, says OTF grant committee member and SCA treasurer, Nancy Forrester. “We’ve arrived at a point in our development where the addition of a staff member will greatly enhance our ability to meet our mandate and better serve the artists in Scugog and the community in general. We are looking forward to being more proactive and a better voice for the arts both locally and regionally.”

The manager of operations will be introduced at the SCA’s Annual General Meeting at the end of April and will be starting their part-time position in May. The AGM will be held on April 28, at 7:30 pm in the Patron’s Lounge of Town Hall 1873 in Port Perry.
