Join Marion Meyers on Saturday September 12 for a demonstration afternoon of Encuastic painting.

Encaustic paint is a mixture of bee’s wax, damar resin and pigment. This mixture is applied hot, dries quickly and is then fused. Marion’s substrates are beautiful birch panels, 1.5″ deep. She uses an iron, a blow torch or heat gun to fuse each layer. Between layers, she gouges, scratches, carves, polishes and rubs in oil sticks. It’s a painstaking process that results in a luminous finish.
