The Arts Committee of the Scugog Memorial Public Library is pleased to announce that they have awarded Mr. Jamie Nix with the 2009 Kent Farndale Bursary for the Arts.  Guests at the reception and cheque presentation were treated to a tap dance performance by Mr. Nix, highlighting just one of the many forms of dance that he specializes in.

“The Committee was very impressed by the extremely high calibre of talent Jamie exhibited” said Jon van Bilsen, Chair of the Arts Committee, adding that “the awarded funds will assist Jamie in continuing to pursue training in dance”, noting the fact that Jamie has had a wide variety of opportunities at this point in his dance career, including an invitation to study with the prestigious National Ballet of Canada.

The Kent Farndale Bursary for the Arts provides financial assistance to residents of Scugog Township who wish to pursue a specific field of study in the arts.  It is felt that the whole community is enriched when aspiring or established artists pursue opportunities for further study in their areas of interest.  The Bursary is generously funded through the annual support of the Rotary Club of Port Perry and donations from the public.
